Soil Collection Ceremony for Ovide Belizaire and Unknown Individual

The Lafayette Parish Equal Justice Initiative Coalition will be holding a soil collection ceremony in memory of Ovide Belizaire and an unknown individual in Youngsville, LA on Saturday, August 13th at 10:00 am.
The ceremony remembers the lives of Ovide Belizaire and an unnamed individual, victims of mob lynching that took place in Youngsville, LA. They are two of six Lafayette Parish lynching victims identified by the Equal Justice Initiative. Soil samples will be displayed in Lafayette Parish and at EJI memorials in Montgomery, AL.
Move the Mindset, in collaboration with 15 local groups, partners with the Equal Justice Initiative’s Community Remembrance Project as a means to memorialize documented victims of racial violence and foster meaningful dialogue about race and justice today.
